Dr.-Ing Erik Zimmermann is a 46 year old mining engineer who studied and graduated at Aachen University in Germany and holds a PHD in mining. After University he started as a consultant working on various surface mining projects before he took a role as Manager for Product Marketing, Planning and Application at Komatsu Mining Germany which is the mother plant for Komatsu’s ultra-class hydraulic mining excavators and shovels. In April 2014 he changed his position to Wirtgen GmbH in Germany who is the OEM for real surface miner. His present role is Product Manager Mining and combines technical product management and business development activities.
